PC Maintenance Contract

The expertise within this Category relates to the desktop hardware and software technologies described below, rather than to larger scale systems development skills. While the vast majority of work to be done within this category will be done using desktop computers under the MS-DOS environment (including Windows 3.1), it is anticipated that there will also be work on other platforms.

Such alternative environments would include OS/2, UNIX, Macintosh, Windows NT, Taligent, and Chicago/Windows 4.0.

Required Professional Skills and Experience
To qualify for this Category, each of the two Verification of Specifications forms submitted must describe a distinct, separate engagement performed by the bidder organization within the past five years. Each engagement description must demonstrate use of one or more of the following professional skills:

- Application Development

This includes, but is not limited to, development of PC database management systems, spreadsheet templates, and word processing templates using one or more of the off-the-shelf desktop computer software products identified below. Typical work would involve some or all of the following: analysis of current systems (manual or automated), new system design, programming, training, and technical and user documentation.

- Consulting Support

This includes analysis and definition of desktop system requirements, making recommendations regarding hardware and/or software designing applications, training, and software troubleshooting.

- Configuration Consulting

This includes hardware planning and performance evaluation.

- Data Communications

This includes the design, programming and implementation of communications modules to work with applications. It requires a working knowledge of synchronous and asynchronous PC communications standards, the Hayes AT command set and popular PC communications software such as Procom Plus, Procomm for Windows, SimPC, Crosstalk Mark 4, and Crosstalk for Windows.

- Kiosk Development

This includes the design, programming, and implementation of DOS-based and/or Macintosh-based kiosks using voice, video, and animation technology.

- Installation Services

This includes the initial Installation of computer hardware and peripherals as well as the de-installation and re-installation of same. It includes both operating system software and application software.

PC Troubleshooting and Maintenance
This includes elementary PC hardware/software services such as creating backups, "cleaning" hard disks, and determining hardware problems. It also includes performing hardware/software upgrades.
